Welcome back Jem! Finally my 1st posting in years....

HDB CARPARKING really pisses me off....cant make up their mind whether it is red or white...kana composition fine of $50 for parking in a "season parking" lot at my house carpark -_-

Those people must be darn heck of a blind mice or night blindness.

Aniways here is my email to HDB.....

Attn: Lim Choon Cho

I would like to appeal on a notice letter (H1506205M) for a offense committed on 28/06/2010 on vehicle number SJH 6880B. It is for the offense of parking in a season parking place without possession of a valid season parking ticket on lot number 705.

There are a few things i would like to highlight in this email :

I went over to Lot 705 in the day and had a look at the lot whether it was a red lot. (apparently for season parking holders in the adjacent blocks, 425 and 424, they are being marked as season parking lots with a signboard located at the red parking lot area) The area where my vehicle was parked at was not, it was on a clear white lot 705. As my previous month, I was rejected for a season parking slot due to being late in applying for it, as a result i have been allocated to another carpark for my season parking which is totally inconvinent. I have also noticed that most of the white lots at night are vacant and yet HDB cannot do anything about it but say that the lots over here are filled.

I parked on that night with a full night coupon which was till 7am on the day itself. My question here is that, I did check on the signboard which stated that the red lots were for season parking holders (mon - sat, 7pm - 7am & sunda, PH are whole days). There are also indicators on the floors where by it is being marked out as season parking lots which clearly cannot be missed in the vacinity of the carpark itself. These areas are being marked as 100+ whereas the area where i parked my vehicle is from 600 + to 700 + (which are white parking lots).

There is clearly some contradiction in your policy here, unless otherwise, HDB is choosing to save up on labelling the remaining white lots into red season parking lots ( which i am being impeded for parking with a valid night parking coupon!) and it is also very misleading or rather thinking that vehicle owners coming to park in this area will "automatically know" that its for season parking. There is no clear indication/labelling/signboards in that area to show that it is meant ONLY for SEASON PARKING. It is a contradiction on your policy now, since the whole area is meant for season parking and vehicle owners are being impeded for parking in that area even if they put a valid parking coupon. Please do advise on how people driving to visit their friends/relatives in that area where to park their vehicles, since it is now a clear violation of the carparking regulation. And if this is true, it must be the same for all carpark lots in Singapore rather than only in PR5 Pasir Ris Drive 6. Then HDB should abolish all parking coupons since it is deemed useless and since all parking lots in areas like this would be SEASON PARKING.

I would also want to apprehend on the officer that issued this ticket whether he/she is given proper training or probably have a case of night blindness at that time of the day. As a resident staying here, I believe we have our rights to feedback and comment on what is right or wrong. If it is clearly a parking offense, we own up to our mistakes and take responsibility for it, but if it is not, i believe it is up to the authorities to do something about it.

Lastly, I would like to thank HDB for giving me only 3 days to try "to settle" on this notice offense without even giving me an offense ticket on that day itself and by just sending a letter which i received on 9th July, expecting me to settle the offense amount by 12th july. (HDB is closed on 10th and 11th - weekends) This clearly just goes to show why Singapore is such a fine country and hence our slogan "Uniquely Singapore!"

If my $50 can go a long way in providing HDB better service like labelling your parking lots better / provide better training to your carparking officers, then it is worth it :)

With all due respect and so much said, something really needs to be done.

~~ 3 cheers for HDB, Hip hip Hurray... more goondu years ahead~!

Wow...

Why use punctuation?
See what a difference it makes:

A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Movie Review - P.S I LOVE YOU

Synopsis:

Two-time Oscar winner Hillary Swank tries her hand at romantic comedy in this touching film based on the bestselling Irish novel. Holly Kennedy (Swank) and her charming Irish husband Gerry (Gerard Butler) are a young couple struggling to get by in New York City. Their marriage is 10 years strong, and they are madly in love, but the fates soon step in, when Gerry develops cancer and dies. Holly is completely devastated, and her friends Denise (Lisa Kudrow) and Sharon (Gina Gershon) do their best to console her.

Her mother (Kathy Bates) and sister, Rose (Nellie Mckay), also offer their support, but it seems nothing can pull Holly out of her grief. Then one day, she begins to receive love letters Gerry penned before his death. The letters are filled with various stories and instructions, and one of them even contains a plan that sends her and her friends on a trip to Ireland. As Gerry's posthumous letters buoy her up, Holly slowly begins to piece her life back together. His letters help her to celebrate their special love story, and remind her that she must continue to live her life, and seek out happiness.

The film's stellar cast delivers many tearjerker moments, and P.S. I LOVE YOU does a fine job of yanking on the heartstrings. However, the tone often shifts so abruptly, it at times feels as though they couldn't quite decide if Holly was a steel magnolia, a Bridget with a diary, or a devil in search of some Prada. But the strong performances manage to hold the tale together, and the story is ultimately moving, and yes, romantic.

Jemcritic: This show is once again a certainty must-watch of the year again. Why do i say that? Well firstly the producers of "The Devil wears Prada" produced this wonderful tear-jerking romantic love movie. (I am a big fan of them) Just recently, we watched 27dresses and it was an awesome movie too...for you guys out there to bring your date/GF/Wife to. In the whole movie yesterday when we were watching, i could hear sobs everywhere...beside, behind, infront....cant be 50 people were having flu at the same time right? kalaweng... aniway its definately worth the money lar...i am a sucker for romantic films with a nice plot and ending :)

P.S PLEASE GO AND WATCH! :)

A verse close to my heart

Wanted to share this verse during cellgroup last week as Pat was worshipping the Lord, felt the spirit leading to share Is40...

Isaiah 40:28 - 31 "Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

In my 9 years of walk being a christian, so many times have i been tired, weary and in need of a breakthrough. But what never fails me in this verse is that the Lord's encouragement to me. He is Soveriegn...His understanding we cannot apprehend most of the times. I have made so many mistakes in my life, but i have seen His grace and mercy upon me in my life. I have seen so many of my good friends in church leaving because of circumstances/situations happening in their lives. I pray that we can be like eagles that even as we run, we wont grow weary, as we walk, we will not faint. Guard your hearts and guard your Salvation Today...

Many can try to fly, but few can soar...

Movies Review - 27 Dresses

27 Dresses Plot :

A single woman who has served as a bridesmaid a shocking 27 times wrestles with the prospect of supporting her sister at the altar on number 28, despite having fallen helplessly in love with her smitten sibling's handsome husband-to-be. Jane (
Katherine Heigl) has the kind of altruistic traits that everyone looks for in a friend, yet lately the perennial bridesmaid has begun to feel as if something is missing in her life. One night, local newspaper reporter Kevin (James Marsden) spots the devoted bridal attendant racing between receptions in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and quickly surmises that her quirky tale may be just the story to get him off the bridal beat and into the big time. Immediately suspicious of the cynical reporter's motivations, Jane butts heads with Kevin just as her younger sister Tess (Malin Akerman) shows up in town. While Jane has always put the needs of friends and family before her own wants and desires, she's suddenly prompted to reevaluate her priorities when her boss — with whom she is secretly in love — falls for her younger sister Tess. When Tess and Jane's boss George (Edward Burns) make plans to marry, the smitten younger sibling mistakenly assumes that her lovelorn older sibling will be happy to take part in the wedding. For as far back as Jane can remember, she has sacrificed her own happiness for the sake of those she holds dearest, but now that her heart has been broken, she's finally found the courage to be honest with herself. Now, as Jane finally comes to terms with her true feelings, her life begins to change in ways she never expected. Judy Greer and Melora Hardin co-star in a romantic comedy scripted by The Devil Wears Prada screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna and directed by Anna Fletcher (Step Up).

Jemcritic: Just went with huizi to watch this show, initially thought its going to be some lame romantic show for ladies because of the way the show's titled. I mean 27 dresses? why not 28? or 30(round it up la)...Kin Sung gave a thumbs up for it, but then still i had in mind that maybe he was forced to give a thumbs up under circumstances infront of Lijuan. If you know what i meant. Haha.

Well after watching the movie i really changed my mind about it. The plot was really good except for some lack of character development in some scenes. But overall is really good and i believe this one is a must watch whether you are a guy/girl. This is definately in contention for Oscar and whatever movie recognition that can be given to the producers for this show. I can only imagine because they were the ones who came up with The Devil Wears Prada which is also an awesome show.
